El Güel series of Mexican spirits are created specifically for house pours by Back Alley Imports.

The name “El Güel” (pronounced /el wel/) is an homage to all the people of Mexican heritage in the US hospitality industry as it is the way they refer to “house pours.”

El Güel Gin is produced in Mexico City by a distillery with more than 125 years of presence in the market making it one of the oldest and with the most tradition in Mexico. El Güel Gin uses the finest in botanicals from the states surrounding Mexico City.
El Güel Triple Sec is made with only the best oranges from Alamo Temapache, Veracruz – the self-proclaimed capital of Mexican oranges. This triple sec is ideal for margaritas using the classic recipe — tequila, triple sec and lime. This triple sec honors the day laborers of Veracruz who carry out the arduous task of manually collecting the ripe oranges in the orchards who are known locally as “coloteros.”


El Güel Tequila Blanco – Made with 100% Blue Weber agave with no additive and no diffuser by maestra tequilera Zandra Gomez de Santiago at Destiladora de Agave Azul SA de CV (NOM1424). Destiladora de Agave Azul is a woman-owned and woman-run distillery in the town of San Juanito de Escobedo in the valles of Jalisco about 45 minutes from the town of Tequila itself. El Güel Tequila was designed specifically by the maestra for Back Alley Imports and is certified by the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT).
El Güel Sotol is produced in Aldama, Chihuahua and is made with a variety of the sotol plant known as “sereque suave” and by its scientific name Daisylirion Leiophyllum. Ideal for sotol cocktails.


El Güel Licor de Hierbas is made from a secret recipe derived from old liqueur traditions of Galicia, in Northwestern Spain. Popularized in Cuba, Mexico and other Latin American nations particularly as coffee modifier to create carajillos, it is now an integral part modern cocktail culture.
